Glass Stemmed Roses...
I went to the store today to pick up a few things. Of course it was one of those Korean neighborhood stores and it's conveniently
called Ho-Ho's of all things. They sell everything from black hair products (relaxers/weave etc.) to Hamburger Helper. They sell everything you want
in this store besides produce and gas.
So Im at the counter and I could see that the three Koreans behind the counter were a bit on edge. The lady that was taking care of me was a little
bit more concerned with what was going on at the other end of the counter then what I was asking for, so I looked over to the next register and I saw
a white man standing there with a clipboard and a pen in his hand. He asked the Korean man behind the counter, "Why aren't the glass stem roses out
in the front so people can see them? PUT THEM UP FRONT NOW!" By then everybody's full attention was on this white man screaming about some glass
stemmed roses.
Now I don't know if any of you have seen these glass stemmed roses but people in the hood don't buy them as gifts for their loved ones. You get
these little tiny plastic roses that are encased in a small glass tube called a stem. They call them stems for a reason. Mainly because that's what
local crack heads use them for....in fact that's the ONLY reason they're bought....in the hood. And this white man was having a pure natural FIT
because they weren't up front at the counter so people could see them. The whole time Im thinking to myself WTF??? They'll go to any length to make
SURE the black community stays infected with addiction and the Koreans don't care because it's not their people coming in there buying those stems
so naturally they did what the white man told them to do.
I looked at the lady who was taking care of me and calmly said..."He's trippin', why do you even sell those things in here?" She looked at me as
if she had seen a ghost, shook her head as if to say, "shhhh, don't say anything, the whiteman is here" rung me up, put my stuff in a bag and sent
me on my way saying have a nice day...never giving me an answer. And on top of that, I've been in that store several times before and no one has EVER
told me to have a nice day. People sure know how to shine when the white man is around.
Needless to say, as I was leaving the store the Korean man was carefully placing the small cartons of glass stem roses neatly on the front counter for
all to see. 
I dont know what we gon do, but whatsomever it is....its GOT to be Mellow.

Maybe the big, bad White man doesn't know what the stems are used for. Heck, I didn't even know what you were talking about. So why didn't you
address any questions or concerns to the White man? Were you staying in your place (shining) by not doing so? This is a story where everybody's at
fault.

If the wise are not calm their manner is not perfect; if no calm comes in battle the army gets no rest. If there is no calm between feasts the master
and the mistress of the house cannot enjoy themselves and if there is no calm in the temple God abandons it.

I don't think you even know what you're talking about.
If she cared about 1) her community, 2) Black people period, she would have said something, instead of coming on here to unload. At the end of the
day...posting means nothing, and actually helps nobody in the truest sense of the word. It just makes us feel better.

If I were staying in my place darlin' I would have done like all the other customers in the store at the time and not said anything at all. I asked
one of the people who ran the store WHY they were selling them. Why ask the white man, he couldn't put them in the store if they weren't buying them
from him in the first place. And I don't know where you're from, but HERE everybody knows what those things are bought for. To say that the white
man might not know what these stems are used for is like saying he doesn't know what the blunts they provide these stores are bought for. But I guess
you don't know what they are either huh?
Point is, They go through BOXES of these glass stems like water, ain't THAT many people buying them because they're so in love and wanna give their
loved one a rose to show affection.
My saying something to the white man wouldn't have made a difference, you think ONE person saying something is gonna change the fact that these
things are sold in neighborhood stores all over the hood?

Mellow you know I just found out what those stems are for a few months back and I was shocked. I always wondered why they sold those things in the
hood stores and here I am thinking that its the corniest, cheapest form of romance available  Im wondering, what girl is giving it up to the brotha who is wooooing her with plastic roses?? 
I'm the girl who has lived in the hood her whole life and was 20 before she ever saw a REAL gun upclose and personal. So if I know what a stem is,
EVERYBODY knows. Yet they keep getting bought and sold.
If the wise are not calm their manner is not perfect; if no calm comes in battle the army gets no rest. If there is no calm between feasts the master
and the mistress of the house cannot enjoy themselves and if there is no calm in the temple God abandons it.

It's cool Deep, I've been put on blast by much better people than her. That don't phase me.  I wish SHE would have been there Im sure SHE would have said something to the whiteman.....Oops! But I

Exactly. I was watching the news the other day, and what started out as one person's observation, led to a two dozen participation protest with news
coverage. Why couldn't you have been that person if you were so concerned?
The saying is "The customer is always right." If you would have walked up to that man, instead of voicing obvious concerns to a lowly cashier, who
knows how many other customers would've voiced the same thing to where instead of demanding them to be placed up front, he would have had them taken
in the back for later disposal.
And if that didn't happen, you could've gone over his head and written letters with signed petition from actual store clientele demanding the
removal of said product.
But you are more than happy to continue to watch your community continue to spiral out of control cradled in the hands of addicts.

White people don't intimidate me...number one. So you have to figure out why they intimidate you to the point where all of a sudden you're
celebrity-struck when you get around them.
Number two....I wouldn't have been up in the store to begin with. I know how I like the makeup of where I shop to look. That...doesn't fit the bill.
