So He Doesn't Open The Car Door For You...
good-afternoon everyone,
does that mean you will stand outside, next to the car door while he's getting in on the other side or
would you open your own car door and get in without raising hell over it?
Fellas, what would you do if a woman did that? Almost as though she's wanting you to catch the hint that you "forgot" to
open her door.

sincerely,
mradams

I agree, some men have been taught how to be a gentleman; others learn these type of qualities along the way. However, with me, I will open my own
door and not make the man feel bad if he forgot. It's crazy because sometimes I never want for a man to feel like he has to open my door, but I
really appreciate it when he does. Much love for gentleman.....

LOL...I was tailgating off Caramel ...I should have put some pointy arrows up...like this..^^^ when she mentioned Southern Hospitality with many
Southern Brotha's...My mind went there...Because the only man who regularly opens my door is my spouse...I don't really have any reason to be in a
car with other men having to do this for me...
Otherwise, yeah, for me, the man who opened my door when dating still opens my door to now...
Exes opened my door......but they were in college trying to "score" what did they really know..lol..
But yeah most that I can honestly think of, opened doors...small thing....
and I'd have no problem opening up my own door...no biggie..but...nice when a guy does it...
Heck if guys out there nowadays feel they need or prefer a woman to open their car doors for them...then well..maybe they'll mention it...
If that's what's the New Mating Game out there...then..okay..like whoa...

I don't count it against them, but I have experienced that good ole' southern hospitality.......my current is from Shreveport, Louisiana so he is a
force to be reckoned with.....opening doors, pulling out chairs, etc....it's great! Every now and again, he slips up and forgets, but it's cool
because it's generally ingrained in him to be a gentleman.

Chivalry is one of my forte's and im from NY - as u said its a trait thats ingrained - if a man holds the door open for his mom more than likely hes
gonna hold it open for you -- now if youre standing in front of that car door 2 years into your relationship u have a whole nutha set of issues to
deal with

I agree, I agree. I just came back from NC (never been south or had the experience of a "southern gentleman"). One of my male cousins who picked
me up at the airport showed me what I'd been missing.
From the point of introduction, I never opened a door, never carried a bag when we went out together. He held the car door open for me getting in and
out, took any bags that I may be carrying and put them in the trunk. I actually didn't know how to act or respond - when I got home, mine didn't
get out the car to help and I damn-near cried. Kid you not.

I wouldn't forget. It's just natural. I won't forget to start the car and turn on the A/C either.
(Side note: Open the door and let her get in (Down South in the summer) then get sidetracked on a conversation with the person your leaving and watch
how fast she opens that door to get out of that hot azz vehicle. After she chewed me a new azz, the silence on the way home was so unnerving...you
could have heard a rat piss on cotton TWO blocks away. That cost me dearly. Let's just say as Mary J sang, I had to "STAY DOWN" for a few
days...work my way back up. So to speak.)
